We were treated to an inspiring demo by portrait artist Bev Lee .
She explained her techniques, gave us facial diagrams with typical proportions, showed examples of warm/cool color combinations, as well as lots of lovely examples. And of course she made it all look so easy!
Carla Reed gave a delightful demo on her whimsical abstract floral designs
in acrylic on canvas. She works in a free , fresh and low stress method, and inspired us all to cut loose and just paint!

Rockies West National Art Show
Congratulations to Nancy Martin and Bill Kelly for both winning awards in the show!
Philip Carlton , an accomplished plein air painter was our speaker. Using his oil painting skills, he demonstrated beginning,
filling out and perfecting a mountain landscape with golden backlit fall trees. He entertained us with amusing stories of a big wind blowing over his easel and snapping the long handles of his brushes, leaving a wet slithering painting along the side of his car. Plein air painting has it pitfalls!

We had a truly memorable three day workshop with Connie Hendrix! It was memorable in that we learned a lot that we’ll always remember, and we had an enjoyable friendly creative time together. We watched on the last day as this striking waterfall painting grew in front of our eyes, with the use of two colors, a paint brush, and a razor blade. Amazing.
We were treated to a hands -on workshop from Liz Caris. She is a tile muralist, painting landscapes, flowers, animals with glass instead of paint!
Each of us designed an image and transfered it onto our own 4x4 white tile.We then hand glazed (with liquid glass) our small images.
You can see the difference below from
glazed and then after they were fired.
